A Senior Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator is being sought to join the team at a private hospital in Sydney. The position will be responsible for meeting the educational requirements of the department, in consultation with the Perioperative Services Management team, and ensuring alignment with ACORN guidelines and national healthcare standards.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Perioperative Services Manager, you will play a key leadership role in delivering hands-on educational support and clinical teaching to both graduate nurses and students. Your expertise will bridge theoretical knowledge, evidence-based practices, and clinical nursing skills to create meaningful learning experiences for new hires as well as experienced staff members.
You will leverage system strategies and tools to assess and enhance the competence of new nursing staff, while actively contributing to quality improvement and safety initiatives across the department.
In this role, you will also participate in relevant policy and procedure meetings, ward meetings, and bi-monthly Education Meetings to ensure alignment with departmental goals and standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current registration with AHPRA;
- Current AHPRA Registration;
- Post Graduate Qualification in perioperative nursing or clinical education (desirable);
- Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) (or working towards);
- Thorough knowledge of ACORN standards and current legislation;
- At least 5 years of experience in perioperative nursing;
- Demonstrated experience in eLearning platforms;
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills;
- High degree of computer literacy including MS Office;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
ABOUT THE FACILITY
The hospital, located in Sydney, is a 98-bed, 7-operating theatres acute surgical hospital. Services provided include (but are not limited to) General & Surgical Day Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery, Maternity and Special Care Nursery facilities, Oncology Unit, and a Mental Health Unit.
