A fantastic full-time opportunity is available for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Urology team at a leading private hospital in Port Macquarie. In this role, you’ll take the lead in managing the ward’s clinical needs, ensuring top-quality care and a safe environment for the patients. You’ll collaborate with a diverse and supportive team, gaining valuable experience while making a real impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:
  • Acting as a clinical resource to staff members, providing guidance and support in decision-making processes;
  • Delivering evidence-based nursing care;
  • Managing clinical pathways, outcome plans, and risk assessments to optimize patient care;
  • Supervising, directing, and guiding nursing team members, including Enrolled Nurses (ENs), to deliver patient care;
  • Delivering education and support to individuals/patients for the management of their health recovery, and taking a leadership role in in-servicing and clinical competence programs;
  • Ensuring compliance with infection control policies and maintaining high standards in clinical practice;
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the hospital, including participation in audits, accreditation processes, and clinical projects;
  • Managing acute situations using advanced problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills;
  • Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current registration with AHPRA;
  • Relevant post-graduate qualification 1 year of experience in the clinical specialty or a minimum of 4 years post-registration experience, including 3 years within the specialty area;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team;
  • Experience within the specialty;
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to manage a designated portfolio;
  • Understanding of the scope of practice and ability to ensure safe delegation and supervision of clinical staff.

ABOUT THE FACILITY

The hospital, located in Port Macquarie, is a 72-bed acute Medical/Surgical and Rehab facility with 6 Renal Chairs and a Day Surgery complex. Comprehensive Medical/Surgical services are offered with 24-hour Medical Officer Support, including Orthopaedics, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Bariatric and Vascular, Plastic & Ophthalmology. 

This year marks a significant capital expansion, including introducing a new theatre and a comprehensive overhaul of CSSD, making it a great time to be a part of this new development.
